For a more extensive listing of examples and recommendations concerning distance education evaluation, see the resources page. To initiate discussion, we can explore some of the highlights of NCSU's Project 25 report. The report represents a preliminary look at efforts at developing Web-based courses. It compares courses taught in face-to-face classrooms with similar courses taught via the Web. For more information we can look at excerpts from the Project 25 report. To begin moving toward recommendations to keep in mind when considering evaluating distance education efforts, we can look at a report prepared for the Council on Higher Education Accreditation, called Assuring Quality in Distance Education. For discussion we can explore some of the points and recommendations in the Assuring Quality report. The key concerns listed in this presentation represent some of the highlights of both the Project 25 and the Assuring Quality reports. To look more directly at some of the issues discussed in the reports and featured as key concerns here we can look at some interactions facilitated by a courseware tool for student-to-student peer review. |
